“Reflections” – The Works of Tom Gould
Join us at the Cambria Center for the Arts during the month of February, as we celebrate “Reflections,” the works of Tom Gould.
A graduate with a BA in Fine Arts from San Diego State College, Tom retired to Cambria from San Diego where, after working in graphic design and illustration as a freelancer and for publishers, he specialized in publication design. As a result of his efforts, Psychology Today magazine received awards both nationally and internationally from 1968 – 1975 and grew tenfold in circulation to 1.1 million.
Artist’s statement: Each morning in Cambria, the clear light outside my window called for my attention. I discovered as I began to paint that I was challenged by a spectrum that included ambiguous shades. My intent is to portray a certain place in acrylic, as the hours progress and seasons change from lush to austere…land, ocean, and the creatures sharing our landscape.
In addition to his featured artworks in the Gallery for the month of February, Tom will be giving the Art Talk on Sunday, February 25, at 1:00 PM in the Conference Room just off the Gallery. Free to Allied Arts members, a $3 donation is asked of others.
